I've been a professional artist for the past 12 years. I split my time between the metro DMV area, specifically Frederick, MD and my cottage home deep in the mountainous forests of West Virginia. Aside from spending time hiking and painting in the mountains locally, I built a sleeping quarters in the back of my Toyota Tacoma and drive around the most remote parts of the country painting en plein air from the gloomy coastlines of New England to the majestic mountains of Montana.
For my plein air and landscape paintings, my goal is to capture the feeling of the spot as simply as possible, to retain realistic tones and values of the while also implementing a rich contrast using a direct alla prima approach. My still life work focuses on old world objects in chiaroscuro with a somber feeling.
Thank you for making time to view my work.
